Blogger. Radio Dj. Music Geek. Given her academic background, Mimi is more likely to be asked to calculate the tip than to review the latest Radiohead album. A mathematician by training, Mimi spent most of her childhood working through problem sets in math textbooks, lovingly purchased by her mother. Trading in her small town of Aurora, IL (Wayne’s World, anyone?) for the big city, she pursued an undergraduate degree at an engineering school in NYC. In order to combat feelings of worthlessness during her laid-back senior year of college, Mimi created Look at me, I made a blog, a music blog that is dedicated to indie music discovery. Mimi takes pride in having one of the most ill-conceived music blog names, a play on lyrics by the hilarious British band Art Brut. At the moment, her favorite Art Brut song is "The Passenger," a tribute to public transportation, because she has become very attached to the subway and bus systems over the last few years. She frequently uses her transit time to catch up on quality iPod jamming, complete with lyric mouthing and head bobbing. Mimi currently resides in Brooklyn, where she spends most of her time attending concerts and searching for the perfect banh mi sandwich.

Standing Room is creating a hub for music and other performing arts as they should be -- live, vibrant, and accessible.
